UPAS has ended for this year now, but we have a farewell meal on Tuesday the 3rd of June. This is a final chance to say goodbye to people who will be leaving us now that they have finished Uni.
It is at 6:30 in The Trafalgar. Come along and say goodbye to friends that are leaving.

This Saturday - 24th May - it is the London Expo. UPAS is having a trip there. So if you are interested in coming then here are the details.
We will be catching the 6:50 train from Portsmouth and Southsea. You are welcome to meet us in London and at a later time if you wish.
We will be heading to London Expo and people who have not got fast-track tickets do have the option to purchases them at this point. We will spend the day at the Expo.
I also plan to see the Masquerade. This is a show in which cosplayers show off the costumes they have designed. Afterwards, if people have all finished. We will go to wagamama. Then catch the train to head back home.
Here is the cost for the day:
£12 for expo ticket pre-ordered
£17 for travel to/from and in London
£* for Wagamama Meal
As for much too take, there are two ways to look at spending at the expo. You can do my tried and tested method of setting a budget and then going two hundred over. Or you can set a budget then leave you bank card behind to prevent your self going over. It depends mostly on how much money you have.

UPAS Committee
As the semester is drawing to a close, we need to sort out the committee who will be running the society next year. There’re three positions open: president, treasurer and secretary.
Here’s a brief description of all the positions. The one condition is that these roles have to be filled by a student. Previously only the president/treasurer needed to be, but the Union like to change things. Ah well.
President
The president is our representative with the Union. Basically, they let the Union know we exist, and is the point of contact between the Union and the society. It’s also their job to ensure things run smooth…well, as smooth as can be!
Treasurer
The guardian of our phat lootz/meagre pennies. The treasurer is in charge of the budget, so all expenditure and money control go through them.
Secretary
The secretary deals with the social side of things- organising pub crawls, meals out, leaflets for the fresher’s faire etc.
If you’re interested in running or have any questions, please feel free to PM/grab myself, Noly or Chris (Letushim).
Next Friday (the 11th) we’ll announce who’s running, and they’ll give us a little blurb about who they are and why they’re awesome. The week after (the 18th) we’ll be doing the vote to decide on who is the new committee.
This election is very important, as without a committee, we don’t have a society! So if you want to help UPAS grow and become better, please put yourself forward for a position. It’s not hard work, and you’ll have plenty of support- many of our members have been here since the society’s formation, and they’re always glad to lend a hand. Remember, this is your society, and it’s your decisions which will help change it in the years to come.

We are going to have a poll on if we should carry on with the current running series Utawarerumono or not. If people vote yes then we will carry on with showing this series as normal and will show more guests to take Death Notes old space. If people vote for no then we will have to change it to another shorter series that we should be able to finish before the end of the year.All voting is anonymous and so please vote
The closing date for this poll will be Thursday 3rd April so you have over a week to vote.
We are having another movie night THIS Thursday (13th) in the function rooms @ 6:30 and we will be showing Paprika which I highly recommend you join us because it is an amazing movie.
Just a quick announcement to say we are back to our usual Fridays at 6:30 when we will be carrying on with Death Note (not long to go now) and also will be starting a new running series which should keep us going until the end of the year.
This week on Thursday we will be having a FLCL Mathron. This series is a short 6 episode comedy. It will last for about 1 hour and 30 minutes with breaks. It is starting at 6:30 in the union function rooms.
Again unfortunately we are not meeting this week on Friday due Union commandeering our room. However, we are back meeting on Fridays next week – 29th February.
Also just a reminder of the cosplay work shop. It meets every Tuesday to allow you to be able to work on costume designs and to get tips from other cosplayers. Starts at 7:00 and goes on to 10:30 and this will be held at Adam’s house. If you are ensure on where Adam’s house is. Come to the Union at 6:30 and we will guide you to his house.

Unfortunatly there will no meeting this week on the Friday due to Union events. So instead we are having a movie night on Tuesday - 12th February - starting at 6:30 in the Union Function Rooms.
The film we will be watching is Arcadia of my Youth.
Also starting this Tuesday is the Cosplay Workshop, starts at 7:00 to 10:30. This will be helds at Adam’s house. If you are ensure on where Adam’s house is. Come to the Union at 6:30 and we will guide you to his house.

Hi all sorry for the lack of updates but as I am sure your all aware off its exam time which means all of our soul (for those that have one) leaves us for this evil time.
As many of you probably heard we might not show the second half of Death Note and to decide on what to show alongside Full Metal panic we are going to hold another smaller vote like last time. Death Note (last 10 episodes) will be on the list along with three other series of the committees choice so make sure to turn up this Friday if you want to have your say.
Also please remember that we have our annual Pirates Vs Ninjas pub crawl next Tuesday (5th) and we hope to see you all there (please remember to bring ID). Also this Friday we are going to give out the details of the Alternative Society Ball which is on the 23rd February.
